Wayanad literally means the land of paddy fields. This district lies about 700 to 2100 metre above sea level. It is a Hill Station. Wayanad extends to an area of 2126 sq.km. It traces its history back to 10th century B.C. Several evidences of the New Stone Age culture could be still seen on the hills of Wayanad. Places to visit in Wayanad: Banasura Sagar Dam, Begur Wild Life Sanctuary, Chempara Peak, Edakkal Caves, Kanthanpara Water Fall, Kuruva Island, Lakkidi, Wayanad (Muthanga)Wild Life and Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuaries, Pakshipathalam, Pazhassi Tomb, Pookott Lake, Soochippara Water Fall and Thirunelli Temple. Climate: Wayanad has a pleasant climate throughout the year. The temperature in December and Januray will be around 15 degree celcius. The rest of the months are little more hot and it will go to 28 degree in May.

Kandeth Homestay is a lovely, beautiful, new house in the centre of Wayanad district. (See the map of Wayanad and Kerala). It is situated in a pretty village at 1000 metre above sea level. The house is built in a property of 2 hectors of agricultural land, cultivated mainly by coffee, pepper, rubber, banana, mango, jackfruit, tapioca, coconut trees, areca nut, ginger, turmeric etc. It is a clam and quiet place, undisturbed from any noise. A very good place to relax and refresch.
